KR - Our thoughts and prayers are towards your benefit. May the operation go well and that afterwards, you wake up to eat a lot of tastelessly bland hospital Jell-O -- always a first sign of success in these matters. <g>

KR- best of luck to you for your surgery and throughout your recovery. I watched a lot of "comfort" movies during my recovery, and it cheered me up no end. I'll be thinking of you, and hoping that you feel your old self (or better, if you like :-) in no time at all.

Re: beware of pain, I have a nice little library of medical textbooks and anatomy books, and when I have unexplained pain will read up on it. There are also excellent sources for laymen on the internet.

I bet your wife researched your gut ache and decided it was abnormal. Wives often do things like that for their husbands. Men are notorious for ignoring warning signs and refusing to take better care of themselves.
