If I could get from the east coast to Chicago in 5 hours by train, I would probably do that trip fairly often. At that speed, I think Albany to Chicago would be about 3 1/2 hours.

I think many people would........who wants to fly these days if they don't have to go that way. I imagine a plane trip between Albany and Chicago takes what......2-2 1/2 hours.......another 1/2 hour to Albany's airport and then another hour to get through out of O'Hare and into downtown Chicago. That's 3 1/2 to 4 hours if everything goes the way its suppose to go. I would be willing to go the extra hour to avoid the hassles of flying.......assuming it took that long. And if the track were upgraded enough to allow fast trains to go at their top speed, the 820 miles between Albany and Chicago could be covered in 2 1/2 hours...with stops in Syracuse, Buffalo and Cleveland....4 hours.
