I worked full time at the Physics department, school half time. When they blockaded the Physics department I told them that I had 2 kids and a wife to support so they let me in. "I think al quaeda and radical islam is more of a threat...." The threat comes from dictatorial governments that don't allow their populations freedom and thereby don't allow them to create a better standard of living for themselves. Our standard of living is solidly based on the freedom to question anything and to debate various points of view. It is not based on religion. Nor is the relative backward state of affairs in Muslim countries based on religion but rather on the dictatorial governments that suppress criticism, scientific investigation, and technical engineering advances. These dictatorial governments do this by dictating what is politically correct in all fields. By supporting these governments the US provides the breeding ground for al Qaeda and radical Islam. al Qaeda and radical Islam are symptoms not causes. "Come back to NY and take a look at the pit." Been there several times, the last time was a year ago. My sister was working in the RCA building at the time(where an anthrax attack occurred), her husband watched the second plane from his office window. I was deeply moved during my first visit and disgusted by the hawkers who sold bloody and torn NYFD shirts. Happy to say that they were not there during my last visit. No, I'm not too far away. They problem is that the only people who don't want freedom are those in power. That's why "checks and balances" were invented. That's why a free press was invented.
