Do they deserve life sentences? Heck no. Did the white kid deserve to get beaten up? Probably not, even if he did ask for it. Is this worthy of a new civil rights movement? Yeah, right.

Had the courts and the system in Jena been fair and equitable, it never would have made the national news nor turned into a civil rights movement as you called it. The fact is the Jena six were treated differently than the white students from the very get go. That should bother you but I understand why it doesn't. I posted this once before on this thread.......there was this old poster dating back to the 1960s that I saw ten years ago. On the poster, it said [and I am paraphrasing and bringing it into the 21st century].......when they came for the Jews, I said nothing. When they came for the Muslims, I still said nothing. When they came for the Catholics, I still said nothing. When they came for the Protestants, I still said nothing. And when they came for me, there was no one left to say anything.

Racism exists in this society......ignoring incidents like Jena is asking for trouble further down the road.
