I'd say it was more because of Chambers highlighting the weakness in enterprise and financial companies. That confirmed market fears and the stock got killed because of it. Also, the book to bill went down from last quarter. That scares people in an environment like this. It's all about what future expectations are. Anyway, it's clear that Cisco barely made their numbers and it was overseas sales that did it. So diversification has helped them this quarter. But if the US consumer is slowing down that will impact every country around the globe and that will slow down overseas sales. That is what is giving everyone jitters.

For me, I think this is just the right time to start buying into good stables stocks, Cisco included. This reminds me quite a bit of the Asian Contagion back in 97 or 98, or whenever that was. People who bought at that time were in for some killer returns over the next couple of years. I don't think the returns will be quite as good this time around, but I do think whatever I buy now will be up substantially within 2 years. Good luck to the selling into the fear crowd!
