The neocon ideas need to be exterminated beyond any hope of resurrection.

Pakistan’s Collapse, Our Problem

Exactly. The neocons think the US military is always the 'solution' to every world 'problem'. It must be dawning on even them that we don't have the resources to be everywhere all the time. And trying will just cripple us.

The world has become more democratic since WW2 because we set a compelling example for what could be accomplished. A bunch of Presidents signed onto that tactic. Then came Bush and the Neos. And we are backtraking both in the world and domestically wrt democracy.

Who is the right leader to reverse course?

Those guys are a couple of the original neocons. Kagan is the guy who came up with the "surge" - he's probably more worried about Israel than the US. The other guy is just worried about how to keep the neocon agenda rolling through current events.

They are both nuts. The neocon ideas need to be exterminated beyond any hope of resurrection.

I knew the article was trouble when I read this line:

"We do not intend to be fear mongers."

Of course you do.

Too bad about O'Hanlon......I thought he had his head screwed on right. Wrong.
