I'm suggesting that we rise above politics and make clean energy research & development our first priority. If we did that I think these would be side benefits 1) The Tree hugging left would be weakened because it would be clear to every American that we're making an effort to find the solution. 2) By gaining popular support BECAUSE of our efforts we'd be able to drill AND build nuclear power plants 3) New jobs would be created in this country 4) New technologies would be created that would improve our future - just like what happened as a result of the space program. 5) You want to get even with the middle east? Find an alternative to the amount of oil needed and we can starve them out plus WE WOULD OWN the technology so countries would have to come to us
