Trying to time the buys and sells in the way you indicate would be nice...but waaaay beyond any capabilities I can aspire to...LOL

Yes...buying a Jan option now more expensive in that it has a higher time premium...But if I sell the Jan by say the 3rd week of Dec as I would normally expect, my sales price will retain some portion of that time premium.

BTW time premium paid also varies with the strike price, and the extent to which it is in the money or out of the money..

JJ-still watching FSLR? I'm still in it and I'm back in the green with it after today and I'm thinking about adding.
