Thanks, marcos, for your thoughts on guessing zinc. The Chinese of old-old, when stuck for answers regarding the morrow, used to throw a turtle's carapace into the fire and then interpret the resulting cracks. (In Chinese writing, and also Japanese, the character for "divining" is thus representing the cracks on a turtle carapace.) This was bound to be specialist work because you needed to know the algorithms which pattern turtle-shell cracks upon the rest of the universe. We've never had it so good. All we need to do nowadays is log into SI and read: the future is now.
