"Why can't we consumers buy 5 year old version of MSFT Office for $10? "

Why buy Office at all when you can download OpenOffice for free?

Because, the MARKET says it's worth MORE:

search.ebay.com

Which is nuts, because you can get OpenOffice for ZERO:

openoffice.org

Which can save as MS Office files if you like.

In Sep '07 MSFT's gross margins were 81% and its operating margins were a whopping 43%!

Why can't we consumers buy 5 year old version of MSFT Office for $10? I don't need any of the features added to Word or Excel in the last 5 years....
