"But $3 of that would have been going toward a "Manhattan Project" to get us OFF oil! "

oh Bull congress would pass a law saying that it would be added to the general fund and spent on pork. Haven't you learn anything about congress in your life time? The road taxes you pay at the pump goes into the general fund. you be paying 3 bucks a gal more for nothing.

Chris, > If only GORE had won..

Elect Hillary and Gore can then become her new Energy Czar. A Nobel Peace Prize laureate in the Cabinet should prove to the world that America is now taking the problem of global warming very seriously.

That'll give Hillary enough political capital to raise the price of gas to $8/gallon, which is what Taro pays right now anyway.

Of course, that would screw over the economy and the middle class who loves their SUVs, but hey, there'd be a Clinton in the White House! Let the good times roll again!

$5 of that (of $3 a gal) in Europe is going to socialistic projects and other welfare.
None of it is going to "getting us OFF oil".

What makes you believe that US dem socialism would be any different from ole Europe socialism?
