Soldier re-enlists hours after IED injury

That does not surprise me.

During Nam we evacuated our wounded to Clark AFB Hospital in the Philippines; US Military Hospitals at Camps Zama, Drake and Yokahama Japan; Tripler Army Hospital, Hawaii; And other military hospitals stateside.

Upon release from the hospitals outside the US, it was more common than you might expect for troops to volunteer to go back to their unit in combat and refuse a stateside assignment. I did that after spending 3 1/2 months as a patient at Zama.
