ElM, it won't take until 2020 to bring alternatives on stream to compete with $100 a barrel oil. China can do a turnkey operation of a new nuclear reactor in months rather than decades. It doesn't take them a decade just to get resource consent from kleptocrats [a nuclear reactor in NZ would take a lot longer than that as the electorate would not give permission either]. It does take a bit of time to increase production because new drilling rigs have to be built, which means new steel mills are needed, which means more coal production is needed, which means more roads must be built which means more quarries, cement kilns ... no wonder there is an economic boom as China continues to develop. A lot of people are too young to remember or didn't see the process, but in 1979, after the second quadrupling of oil prices, it didn't take long for production to increase, demand to drop and prices to fall. It took from 1979 to 1986 for prices to hit the bottom. That's only 7 years. Prices were falling sooner than that. There is no shortage of energy. The cosmos is made of the stuff. It's just a question of form and price. I can go down the road and buy all the energy I like. Heck, I can sit in my house and buy all I like [to the limit of the capacity of my wires and gas supply which is a lot]. Mqurice

You guys are heretics, the system architects say so. No matter that your awareness has truth, the system architects have a plan to obfuscate all reality to the purposes they've previously scripted. These architects of ours, at least their leadership, are back channelling the need for amnesty, knowing full well, they are busted by a heirarchy they dont understand and could never acknowledge.
