Thank you. I know you've been speaking of the Taliban resurgence for some time. It would appear things are going to get worse then. If this peacefulness in Iraq is temporary then it may get truly ugly.

UW, I'd like to ask you a question, if I may. Stratfor from time to time is advocating a strategy in which our - or coalition - forces would be placed away from population centers, further out in the country. From those hard to penetrate locations we would be able to conduct operations against the Talibs - or any other bad guys. Some of those operations would be only bombings, others would include ground forces. The result would be that our casualties would be much lower. In Afghanistan especially, we do know who the good guys are, and who are the bad ones. It would be just about impossible for the Talibs to consolidate their influence to any degree, since they would be suffering continuous devastating attacks which would occur regularly, in locations which they could not predict - and at times of our choosing. In a certain sense, we would be turning the tables on the bad guys - we would be in position to keep beating the crap out of them at a relatively low cost - AND for as long as it takes. Those on "our" side would enjoy effective strategic support. Once the locals would catch on to this strategy and come believe that "our" side would eventually win, they would be less likely to support the bad guys.

What do you think about this?
