1 - Is one highly specific counter-example, compared to a huge history of socialized farming being at least problematic, and often disastrous.

So called 'socialized farming and manufacturing' failed in the former Soviet Union because the workers got screwed by the soviet oligarchy that ruled the country. The oligarchy would skim the 'cream' of the profits off the top and left whatever was left [and often there was nothing] to the workers. That's not socialism nor communism......its called an old fashioned screw job much like what was done to American workers at the turn of the century.
