To be fair, there used to be Republicans who worked across the aisle, back when the party still had moderate and liberal wings and grown-up leadership on the Hill. Reagan and Tip O'Neill got a lot more done than the current incumbents.

The modern vein of Rovian 50.x "majorities" have warped the whole process.
