i would be for ban of wood burning in fireplaces. I cannot breathe going out side my house most of the year with the smell and strong odor of fireplace smoke blowing over my place. The winds seem to bring down the smoke from neighbors chimney.

However , since i am indoor most of the time i can also live with it. My neighbor also heats his house with wood , has a stove in the basement and ducked into regular vents in the house. so he burns maybe eight months of the year.

same with the one on the other side. i expect quite a bit of pollution is released from on going wood burning. I also doubt anything like that would pass out in this part of the country. g

ps i have three fire places in my house.

The argument has been going on for a very long time. I remember reading an article 5 yrs ago about banning fireplace fires in some city in Montana.....sorry can't remember which one.......and know somewhere, someone is trying to make it happen in several cities nationwide.

Were I live, we are required to have certified wood burning fireplace, or if not and it is our only source of heat, we can continue to use. We converted to NG fireplace 5 yrs ago and have never been happier. No more mess in house and we can breath when we go outside. We do smell smoke in air this time of year but are fortunate to live on the top of the hill.

There can be other problems with wood burning fireplaces/stoves.My neighbor had to turn the neighbor right next to her into the EPA for burning rubber backed rugs in her wood stove a few yrs ago.
