I couldn't read his plate. I'm sure the cop checked the Mormon database of saints in good standing when he went back to the car before he tasered the guy.

I could see WHY he tasered the guy - he ordered him to do something and instead of doing it the guy started returning to his vehicle. Kind of stupid when the cop is pointing a taser at you. The guy needed to learn to respect the taser.

The guy wasn't COMPLYING. Even if a cop is wrong and abusive, the first thing I learned was to COMPLY and fight the crap later.

The average law abiding citizen doesn't expect to be tasered. This is probably this guy's first run in with an autocratic cop.....plus he had a pregnant wife in the car which probably was bringing his protecting machismo to the surface. Clearly, he was thinking very well.

Having said that, the cop who was the experienced professional could have simply handed him the ticket and reported it back at the station. Instead, he chose to escalate the situation into something more confrontational. I think the cop has the most fault here.

The cop faced a conundrum - was he supposed to let the guy drive away? What if the guy had a gun in the car? Fight him hand to hand? Shoot him? Pursue and call for backup?

Oh come on......you've been watching too many cop shows. Had the cop simply given him the ticket instead of trying to get him to sign it, the situation would never have escalated.
