Fortunately, he isn't as dumb as you.

Go suck one of your BB's, dipstick. When floating ice melts, it doesn't change the level of what it's floating in.

The most likely explanation is the melting of Antarctic ice sheets: as sea levels rose (from Greenland meltwater), the floating (Antarctic) ice shelves off the coast of the continent would have become more likely to break up. That in turn would have allowed glaciers to dump more ice from the continent itself into the sea. The base of the West Antarctic ice sheet lies below sea level, which allows ice to escape to the sea easily.

If you'd paid attention to what you posted, you'd see that the floating ice shelves, in themselves, would not affect sea level if they were to melt.

The whole issue is moot, anyway. If the earth warms up from current levels, then your BB's and Kyoto and all the lame brained pols and ecofreaks and red/green watermelons who are yelling and screaming aren't going to make a damn bit of difference.

The ONLY way to get atmospheric CO2 back to pre industrial levels is to cancel civilization. Ain't gonna happen and that's a fact, Jack. This guy has it pegged...
