Tutor > do I understand you correctly to rather "lump sum" group all the despotic examples drawn upon by Ms. Wolf to have their roots in Zionism when reading your response?

There's so much to say that it's virtually impossible to say it in few words. What has happened is that Zionism has matured from being a project to obtain a "homeland" for a few million Jews in the mid-East, known as the state of Israel, to a project intent on securing that state in an environment which is becoming increasingly hostile to it. As I'm sure you know, the state of Israel was "approved" by the UN in 1948, within the boundaries that existed then, and subject to the consideration that a state for the Palestinians would also be created on the remainder of the land, all of which was then known as Palestine.

For various reasons, the Palestinian state was not created and Israel has continued to encroach on and occupy the land intended for the Palestinians. So much so, it's now impossible for the Palestinians to create a viable state on the land that has been left for them. Since there are 5 1/2 million Israelis and almost the same number of Palestinians, Israelis are opposed to a unitary, democratic state together with the Palestinians. So, quite clearly, since Israel will not return the occupied land, an impasse exists where no practical solution is conceivable or possible.

This is where the neoconservatives (neocons) in the US enter. These are mainly Zionistic Jews, although not all, who created a policy for the US and for Israel (PNAC and Clean Break- Securing the Realm) that the best solution to the impasse would be if regime change could be effected in the various hostile countries around Israel. This is no secret or conspiracy theory. It has been well documented and written about. The point of this is that, even if no solution to the Palestinian Question could be found (which up to now is self-evident), no one would be able to do anything about it. Of course, for regime changes to be brought about in the manner desired, the US, and particularly the military, would have to be involved. And that is what 9/11 and the subsequent War on Terrorism was about -- a means and a pretext to get the US, wittingly or unwittingly, to "solve the insoluble" problems of Israel.

And that is what is different this time from any other time since, one might say, the assassination of JFK. For the neocons' plan to succeed, it is necessary both to maintain the myth and hype of "terrorism" as much as possible and also prevent enlightenment and dissent on the part of the American people which could lead to a meaningful change in the government. Hence the change to fascism and dictatorship.
