BS, as I said, I think you are just fashionably anti-British: < I clearly stated that the British were no better or worse than anyone.> I don't know why you are; maybe Catholicism, Irishism, "French", maybe believing 4 July stuff.

It is patently absurd to say British were no better or worse than anyone. Humans are not fungible grey ooze. They really are different and there are different philosophical foundations and ideologies. Some good, some hideous.

Since you make such obviously false claims, there must be a reason, even though the differences have been explained.

For example, my father went to the other side of the world to stop the Germans marauding across the world. You are saying he was no better or worse than those he opposed. That's an odd point of view since those he opposed were exterminating Jews and conducting other mass murder. He stopped some Indian soldiers stealing a lady's chickens too [when she didn't want to sell them]. I guess that's no better or worse than rounding up some more Jews or being the one stealing the birds.

My British great grandfather was sailing a mission ship for the purpose of educating Melanesians. Japan funded our son to go to Japan and study at Yamate High School and become fluent in English. That was a quite different thing from invading New Zealand and killing people which they tried half a century earlier. My British great great grandfather left England to be a missionary on Norfolk Island, not to shoot the local yokels [Pitcairners] or rob them.

I think my ancestors were quite different from and better than Japanese soldiers "educating" people in Nanking or Germans exterminating them in Dachau. Maybe I'm biased. You obviously think so.

PS: <It is 2007 and what enduring successes have been brought upon Africa by the British > Since the British were booted out/left half a century ago, it should not be surprising that the local yokels have made it the way they like it. Enduring successes only endure if somebody is there to maintain the mechanisms which provide the success. Robert Mugabe thought he could steal land, wave magic wands and create success. Wearing a military hat and gold braid is not the main aspect of being a good military.
