"Bullcrap. We can start by reversing the trend toward the nanny state."

Reversing a trend takes time. So the bullcrap is all on your end.

"But you think it isn't realistic to cut spending. Well why not?"

Not what I said. I have said that cutting spending by any substantial amount takes time. And that is because it does. Just look at past budgets.

Why don't we start by not spending 10 times what our nearest rivals spend on our military? Then, we can end corporate welfare and farm subsidies. After that, we can end the deductibility of mortgage interest. Let's have STRICT PAYGO budgeting, INCLUDING Iraq. What would YOU choose if staying in Iraq meant a tax hike to pay for it?

I don't know ANYBODY that doesn't think the government doesn't waste gobs of money, and most of the people I know are "liberals". EVERYONE wants the government to spend less money.

So, let's NEGOTIATE. Oh yeah, I forgot that Bush doesn't know HOW - so that's ALSO something for the NEXT President to do.
