The GOP is actively demonizing Mexicans now. Actively. Before that and still, they demonize the entire Muslim religion. Add to that their not-so-closeted racism against blacks. Or anyone who's well-educated. They also demonize those who are not piousy religious (but hate Islamics who are) or who have decided that the whole concept of God is impossible to ever prove and that organized religion is frequently corrupt or cult-like. They forget one thing. This country was founded on the freedom of religious, including the freedom to reject all religion. In fact some of our greatest founding fathers and Abrham Lincoln were all but athiests. Ben Franklin too. If you want to deny any of the above, take your best shot. But you will be lying. Just listen to any of the rightwing talkshow hosts rail against the Mexicans and Muslims, or the "secular progressives" or the "athiests". And yes till against the Jews. Anne Coulter just did recently. Ironically, most of those who posture themselves as Christian conservatives are immoral people who don't live according to Christ's main teachings at all. Christ taught love, peace and helping the poor more than anything. Those are three qualities the rightwing does not have.
