Yes, Banks are to blame as well as greedy people. Home values were escalating constantly and big banks were makeing 0 down payment loans which encouraged people to buy beyond their means thinking the more the home cost the more it would appreciate. I am on the Board of a smaller bank (100+million in assets) we never made those types of loans, most of our loans were in the neighborhood of 80% loan to collateral value with ability to repay. Consequently, we have had ZERO loan loses in all of this. Yes, we didnt grow as fast as some others but WE AINT SHRINKING NOW either. haha. jdn
