Abu Dhabi will own Citi. Should we celebrate? I guess we
should, those are our good Arabian friends, who, arguably,
financed the 911 <G>

Well, who knows, maybe it'll work out for Abu Dhabi, throwing $7.5 billion into Citi so they can limp through Christmas and the layoff of 45,000 employees.

Optimists will see the Abu Dhabi deal as a giant step in the "save the whales" effort, whereas pessimists OTOH will see petro-funded Arab purchases as being bought out with your own money -- and increasingly worthless money I might add -- but I digress.

Ya gotta think positive, right? Hide the SIV write-offs, juice the next few quarters earnings with lower labor costs, rally the stock, and then get the fuck out of Dodge before the Awful Truth is exposed. What a plan!

Just look at how well Bank of America is doing on the $2 billion they threw into Countrywide on that $18 convertible when the common was north of $21. Financials are sure hot these days, no doubt about it. It will be tough for Abu Dahbi to beat that kind of return (CFC closed at $8.64 today, but who's counting).

I'm sure pulling for them here, how about you?
