Lewis is right but sometimes you can peace that trancends history. Thats why i posted as i did. Israel living as a garrison state is better than lewis's alternative but as a jew, i know that Jews want and deserve more than the garrison state fate too. I think you agree with that. We both reluctantly accept the garrison state fate because the alternative is the suicide folks like parsons and hinton want israel to commit to. Never that but in order for arab states to move, they need to face the facts and not their impossible dreams. Sadat and Begin transcended history so it is possible.
