Hi John,

yes! I've noticed that we keep getting bailed or bought out by either Arab companies with their cash infusions or by Chinese companies like their purchases of hedge funds. Very scary. I remember feeling this way when Japanese companies were buying out American companies and real estate. It's deja vu.

This could be a hard landing or even a recession. It could even last through the end of next year. Forgive me for bringing up politics again, but I don't think you can separate the two. I think that next year being an election year will have a big impact, because the policies of the current administration have been one of big gov't spending overseas, whereas if a Democrat gets elected, we'll have big gov't spending on domestic issues like health care. So I think that will have economic consequences, which will have concommitant stock market consequences.

In the mean time, we could be in for a pretty choppy 2008, which you are right, will make for a trader's dream market. Either way, I'll keep buying with money from the savings out of my bi-weekly paycheck. When things turn up, either second half of 2008 or early 2009, I'll be much happier.
