If its clear that modern fast trains would have sufficient demand, than you could get private investment in to this future profitable enterprise.

Just like private enterprise built the Interstate System.


Its frustrating.......he only sees it from one POV. If that POV is not met, then its a no go.......even if it will benefit the country. That's why we are deadlocked on so many issues.

If it was clear that building such a system would have sufficient demand, and if the government itself did not already build such a system, than you would likely get sufficient private investment to create such a system.

Of course it isn't and wasn't clear that there would be sufficient demand (in terms of dollars, not just people who would use the system if its free), and of course the feds have already built such a system. Either fact by itself is enough to explain the lack of a private interstate system.
