JPMorgan estimates $260 bln in CDO market losses Tue Nov 27, 2007 4:23pm EST NEW YORK, Nov 27 (Reuters) - JPMorgan (JPM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) estimates that overall losses from collateralized debt obligations tied to risky subprime mortgages may climb to $260 billion, according to Chris Flanagan, head of U.S. asset-backed securities. JPMorgan estimates that structuring banks are exposed to $216 billion of supersenior risk, while guarantors have exposure to about $90 billion. "In upcoming months, the focus will be the extent of mortgage-related losses and who owns these losses," the report said. Bank CDO write-downs may climb to $77 billion, while write-downs for guarantors may be $30 billion, according to JPMorgan. "Bond insurers have recognized very little in losses and are counting on delayed loss timing and outperformance" versus benchmark indexes, JPMorgan said in a report late on Monday.
