"...but starving someone to death is barbaric." Actually, it isn't. I mean, there's no "good" way to die, but starving an unconscious person really isn't especially painful, and is a very common hospice practice. Two years ago, I watched two people die in that manner within a couple months of each other. One was my dad. In both cases, the people lost consciousness and were unable to feed themselves or swallow. Within a week, both passed away peacefully. I agree that it sounds terrible, but it really is humane.
