Umm, Clinton, Bush Sr., Reagan (after he cut them)? And many before them.

The real reality is that you have to raise taxes to lower spending. Why buy the cow when the milk is free, as they say.

And by the way, why do you think "liberals" want to raise taxes? You think they like a lower take home? Or maybe they think there are larger, more important long term issues for the country that are worth the sacrifice?
