There is incredible stonework at some of those ruins.

>>Location: Tambo Machay, Cuzco, Peru

Exquisite stonework at Tambo Machay, a small ruin outside Cuzco.

There are many theories on how the Incas managed such fine stonework: in structures such as Sacsayhuaman, the stone blocks can be hundreds of tonnes, yet they're so finely carved it can be difficult to slide a knife between them. At the end of the day, nobody really knows.

Hi ManyMoose,

Yes a Peru visit is a wonderful vacation. From the people to the environment, to the history (both pre-Spanish and afterwards), an unforgettable experience.. Here is a link to a few of our pics from when we were there. They are all mixed up with the Amazon, Andes and Lima portions all thrown together.. :)

PS: The jury is out in my mind of the origin of the ruins...:)

PS again: Nice thread..
