I really don't know.. The workmanship, the craftsmanship is just unreal.. these blocks are keyed in, concave, convex fittings, and all sizes from maybe a few tons to an inch across. One of my pics towards the bottom showed a one inch block keyed in..

We have visited other ruins in the Yucatan and Belize and all exhibit similar "technological architecture"..

And what is strange in my mind, there seems to be no evolution of their craftsmanship, ie, starting out crude and advancing to this advanced state. No known plans or models exist in any form as I understand.. I had a language barrier when asking about these questions in Peru and Mexico but that's what I gathered.. They just mateialized in a relatively short period of time. I think the Machu Picchu era was only 500-1000 years in duration.

The Chichen Itza ruins on the Yucatan pennisula are JUST remarkable in the way they are laid out to use the sun and the seasons for various shadow shows and plays, like snakes curling down the stairs on a soltice.. :)

Just remarkable. I don't know how they done it..

They just seem to have materialized...

From a geological pov, I think I noticed TWO distinct lithologies in adjoining stones when our guide claimed they were all from the same quarry if I understood correctly.. Again the ole language issue.. Also tough to do casual, eyeball geology from a few feet away without a hand lens.. :)

Gotta go explore some more. You got me all het up.. :)
