"I approved of Afghanistan..." that's what most of them are saying because it's acceptable to the general public... the general public was OK with seeking revenge whether it was legal or not, without any benefit of trial. however... if the US had any respect for the rule of law, we'd have treated the WTC event as an international crime... no different than the OK city fed bldg bombing. at that time (WTC aftermath) we had the support and sympathy of almost every country in the world. the lawful way to handle it would have been to investigate, gather evidence, indict, apprehend, and bring to trial (all with international help and cooperation.) going into afghanistan with an aerial assault, killing many civilians (and actually, everyone killed, even taliban, had no charges or convictions on them) makes our actions murder... pure, cold blooded, murder. there is no other way to define those killings of innocent people. it was an invasion of a sovereign country who only asked for reasonable evidence before allowing the apprehension of suspects residing in their country. no legal procedures were followed - it was ordered by the commander in chief that we begin a military assault. shock and awe with weapons of mass destruction - do you know how many people a cluster bomb can kill? massive amounts. do we know how many innocent people we murdered? do we care? soooo...... anyone who says, "I approved of our actions against Afghanistan..." is an accessory to murder and a supporter of suspending the rule of law. i know that's one hell of a lot of people in this country... but every one of them WAS and IS at least partially responsible for murder and lawbreaking, the consequences of which will probably be the fall of the united states as a respectable nation on the international front (at the very least) or international criminal charges against us.. the US used to do our international murdering covertly which spared john doe from being complicit. this time it was overt. john doe deserves to be on trial in an international court along side his leaders. there were probably fewer than two million of us who spoke out about this when it happened... that leaves 298 million accomplices (ok, we'll give the children and the ignorant a break... 150 million). if we believe in capital punishment for murder (i don't) this may go a long way toward helping out the planet with it's overpopulation problem. -ep
