Agreed... and although in the long run the Canadians are as likely to panic and print Loonies like others, I don't think you can compare it to the pent up flood likely in the USD when reserve currency holders wake up and smell the coffee.

I saw some guy "smirk" and ridicule others when they questioned reserve currency status saying "where else can they go" type of statement. While in some sense he's correct (not everyone will get out) that doesn't preclude an ugly selling wave with decades of overhang and pressure.

When you think about it it's obvious... the US is unwilling to get it's financial house in order so the bank (rest of the world) is going to force them to do it. No more credit (no more willingness to sop up extra dollars).

It's like dark humor seeing one of the only politicians in either party speak of these things (Ron Paul) right on stage in front of the whole country and everyone still yawns. Very few understand what's happening, which is why you can probably still (JMO) close your eyes and buy gold. It's probably a freakin bargain.
