Kelly not when i was in charge for a democrat mayor! like the chief of police would know if there was slow pay on expense accounts.. like the top guys, i bet he never even made one out. more likely his staff picked up all the tabs.. an audit violation if he was senior at the function, he should be getting the bills approved by next higher level of authority.. in his case the mayor.

too bad the press doesn't ask the task force at the time.. some must still be there or go down to the police stations and ask around. of course that would be investigative reporting.

no they ask chief of police ha

Re: But the current New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said today he knew of no problems with the delay of payments before Giuliani was mayor, when Kelly served under Mayor David Dinkins, or since. "I don't recall anybody, any statements about delay," Kelly told reporters. He said all bills for the police details for Dinkins and now for Mayor Mike Bloomberg are handled directly "through the police department."

Well... that shoe had to drop sometime. (You could practically see it coming.)

Re: Critics say Giuliani's practice of sending the bills to other agencies suggested he was trying to hide his extra-marital affair with Judith Nathan, who he later married after divorcing his second wife, Donna Hanover.

Well... DUH! (Of course most politicians first instinct would be to hide evidence of their extra-marital philandering from the public....) This is like a 'Dog bites man' story. What would be UNUSUAL would be the politician who *didn't* try to hide his affairs away! :-)

Re: In South Carolina today, Giuliani declined to offer any further explanation, saying, "We've already explained it." Giuliani's staff made "a concerted effort" to keep reporters from coming near to the candidate, according to ABC News reporter Jan Simmonds.

Yep, the almost inevitable next step: try to stonewall it (... and hope the issue fades away.)
