Clinton got to slash the military because of the end of the cold war. "Slash" is hardly the word. Funny how you are against big government in any place except the military. But spending was going up anyway until the Republican congress took over. Clinton was the guy who said "the era of big government is over". And, with a good congress, actually acted on it. Bush reversed course. Why your hate of the Dems/Clinton won't let you see that it is the leaders, and not the parties that make a difference is beyond me.
