Bush is not a nazi nor has there been any substantive evidence that he ever lied to us.

Speaking of lying elected officials, why can't we pass one small anti-corruption law. Elected officials are bound by terms of their representation to resist any influence which would adversely effect or conflict with them representing the interests of their constituency, honestly. Even though we are all confronted with all kinds of influences on a daily basis, the act of allowing, or not allowing, is the responsibility of the representative. Corruption is then, the responsibility of the representative who allows it to occur. Any breach of this trust relationship is a violation of the social contract that permits them to hold their office.

Let's start with one simple law that makes it a crime for an elected official to lie to the public. A crime punishable first and foremost by removal from office and by material fines or imprisonment commensurate with the damage done by such lies.

A good Spring cleaning of corruption is long over due. Local officials are often guilty of lying about everything from zoning ordinances that benefit development contractors to special interest groups promising votes. As we move up the chain to state and federal reps the issues become more broad sweeping.
