Me too. Got some live oak acorns at my Mom's. Started one in a pot B4 I moved up here, and it is about 5 feet tall. So is another I discovered. Put some acorns under poison oak, and one took. Mostly, except for the live oaks, which I haven't seen within about 25 miles, I never know what I've started. Throw some out of the car window along the fence lines on the road, and in poison oak clumps.

Coast Live Oak- Quercus agrifolia

Mostly I have red and black (deciduous oaks). Also scatter Bay, and sometimes, Madrone berries. And I stick willow shoots along the creek. Been lax the last few years; not too compatible with my work schedule, but I look forward to retirement. Start planting real trees, too. Be able to water them in the summer. May have a sugar maple on order with the nursery for bare root season.

Madrone...good bee food,too. Dark honey.
