Why do you think we should subsidize the rest of the world with high drug prices?

I agree that's unfair. But you would prefer that we subsidize them with grants from the tax coffers? That's the only alternative I know of. Either way we pay. If we opt to not pay for development, we have fewer drugs available. That's not a good choice, either. What's your preference?

It's a dynamic not static marketplace. If we don't pay for extra for the R&D then they will have to raise prices elsewhere. Do you really think the drug companies are going to stop doing R&D? It's the basic component of their business model... it's what they do to add value.
