Sorry, but Japan's economy went south in part because they pegged their Yen to the dollar. Their banking system now only helps us by transfering capital to the US to ofset the trade deficit, the efforts they now use to adjust the Yen is benificial. Here is what the prior devaluing of the dollar did.

If you see the graph shown here you will see positive results in part from the devaluing of the dollar in the early 70's.
