Sigh. I know better than to offer analogies. I know that I know better. People ignore the point of the analogy and go off on Rudy and abortions and whatever. Try again. It was a spot-on analogy. In both cases the "fact" in the leading clause is invalidated (embryos are no longer necessary for useful stem cells nor are militia having been soundly trumped by standing armies) opening the question of the continued validity of the right lead into by the fact that no longer stands. The remaining details of the analogy are hypothetical for illustration purposes. No, I won't try again. I can't improve on what I offered. Plus, I really do know better than to try to get a point across via an analogy. They're just too abstract for the "political" mind.
