I-5 still closed between Portland and Seattle. State Police are recommending people who have to make the drive go over I-90 to Yakima, on to Tri-Cities, then down to I-84 in Oregon and on to Portland. Turns a drive of 3 hours into one of at least 7.

Where's Ray Negan when you need him?

Made me laugh.
You sent me on a wonderful search last night. I had books piled around me on the bed. (husband out of town) Dunno when I fell asleep, but woke up in the middle of the night, light still burning and with my reading glasses still on.

I am not a linguist; I just love books and collect anything on language that is readable. For fun reading, try Bill Bryson's book that I mention in the post to DMA. Serious academics sometimes take issue with him, but overall, I think he's great.

Did you know there is no evidence that Patrick Henry ever uttered those stirring statements about "Give me liberty or.." and If this be treason.."? They appeared in a biography by someone named Wirt, written 17 years after Henry's death. The guy had never met, heard, seen Henry. About the biography T. Jefferson said, "a poor book, written in bad taste, and giving an imperfect idea of PH."

Revisionist history abounds. It's sure nothing new, according to Bryson. I think you would enjoy the book, just for fun reading.
