What if you were trying to prove that I had an illegal machine gun in my house and I said that you could check everyone but the Master Bedroom? What if then you found nothing in the other parts of the house? Would you conclude that there was no machine gun in the house? I sure as hell wouldn't...not with the Master Bedroom left unchecked. Iran has played the same games. So maybe they have nothing, but you can't be sure until they fully comply with inspection, which they have not done to this date. The IAEA has been way to lenient with them and continues to give them the benefit of the doubt. Look......for 7 years, we've had non stop war talk from a crazy pres and vp. They have so muddied up the waters the Iranians look like nazis with horns. So let's try to look at this rationally......not an easy thing to do on this thread. First, the Iranians have not had a history of military aggressiveness. On the contrary, they have been attacked consistently by outsiders throughout their history. The latest was Saddam. Secondly, Bush/the GOP have never like Iran since they overthrew the Shah and supported Saddam at the expense of Iran. That has led to constant tensions between the US and Iran, eventually evolving into Bush's axis of evil remarks. Thirdly, Iran is Shia in a Sunni world. They have always been treated as second rate by their neighbors and belittled. Fourthly, Israel has made no secret [long before Ahmadinejad's Holocaust remarks]of its dislike for both Iraq and Iran. Israel has nukes and missiles. It used its missiles to take out Iraq's nuclear reactor. Its in Iran's best interest to be able to retaliate in some way against Israeli aggression. Finally, the West/Bush is trying to get Iran to agree to not develop nukes when its neighbors all have them. That's like the UK telling us we can't trade with France. If the US were Iran, we would be telling Bush and the UN to stick it where the sun don't shine. That means the IAEA's job was a very difficult one. Acting like a bull in a china closet which is what many wanted would have ended the relationship sooner rather than later. So they had to tread carefully. Even so, Iran broke off their relationship with the IAEA I believe in late 2006 because of IAEA demands. As far as I can see, the real threat to the US is Russia and the ugly turn it is taking. Bin Laden, al Qaida and Iran are just so much hyped up angst I think conjured up to justify American aggression in the ME and its control of oil production. One thing is clear......all this saber rattling is keeping us from dealing with the real issues confronting this nation.
