There is an opportunity now to engage the iranians on a whole host of issues, especially iraq where both the US and Iran, if they did consult their national interest crystal balls, would find themselves on the same side. Whether its one state or three states, the iranians want security for shiastan in the south and and end to al quaeda violence in sunniland. Duh, thats what the US wants too, even if we didnt expect iran to end up with a sort of UN protectorate in the south for awhile at least. We can have the cold war with iran after we address the hot war we should have won already with al quaeda in south wahiristan. We must win that war in afganistan and with irans help along with that of moderate arab states and even the UN, we might be able to pacify iraq for the time being at least.

BTW i would forget about the financials as leaders here. Market will have to find new leadership. Folks have been talking now about coming defaults in home equity loans where property values have tanked as equity was removed. Bill Gross says fed rates are going to 3%. I think we will have to wait to buy financials for a couple of more quarters and when the rates are in the 3a already. C at $32 will probably stay there for quite awhile.
