It is sad because serving as an elected official used to be a duty that highly successful people fulfilled after they had achieved a successful life. Look at losers like John Kerry, Clinton, Hillary and Tancredo just to name a few. None of them achieved anything outside of government. If not for their ability to get through a couple elections none of them would have ever been heard of. "IMO, most of the congresscritters have already proven that the DON'T deserve our respect. Not all...but most."
