Ask Merle Hazard Anyway you can't change the rules in the middle of the game. This bailout is doomed to fail like everything else he comes up with. Bush rewards the stupid but will he jail the mortgage bankers? "The plan is aimed at homeowners who are making payments on time at lower introductory mortgage rates but cannot afford a higher adjusted rate." Hmmmmm so when is a contract not a contract?youtube.com "CIGA Bill tells us all how it is, from the inside. Dear Jim, Dan and Monty, I am from Detroit, Michigan and just started a new position. Before that I worked in the mortgage industry for 3 years at 3 different companies. All of these companies, with the exception of one (which is on life support), have evaporated; they went totally out of business. I saw first hand the abuses with all the different types of Subprime loans that our Owners/Supervisors expected us to ram down the throats of these unsuspecting people. Although I had to make a living, I finally got tired of working for these greedy pigs as I realized what I was indirectly setting these people up for - failure. I told one of my friends who still works in the industry I would rather live on the street knowing I did the right thing, instead of knowing I set someone up for foreclosure. For those of you who don't think that there's a lot of these types of loans out there - think again! Here in Detroit, we are looking at one of the highest foreclosure rates in the nation with 1 in 33 houses in the Detroit area currently in foreclosure. The year to date figure for foreclosures (per RealtyTrac) was 26,000 filings, up double from this time last year. Additionally, the auto industry is in complete disarray with disappointing sales numbers month after month. I consider myself fortunate to be working as 90% of my friends are laid off permanently, have accepted buyout offers from GM, Ford, and Chrysler, or are looking into new careers. Unfortunately, the new biggest Industry in Detroit is the medical field (this is no joke) as we have a large elderly population and the rest of us who are still alive are so stressed out that we are in need of more medical attention and therefore need more hospitals. Regards, CIGA Bill"
