Skeptics point out that neither plug-in hybrids nor fuel-cell vehicles are anywhere near ready for prime time, and are perhaps a decade or more away from true commercialization.

I think we are a lot closer on plug in hybrids. I don't think I will see fuel cell commercialized in my lifetime.

I really think it depends on the committment. If it were up to the US, I would agree with you. However, Japan and Europe are much more motivated to get off oil.
