Petz,
You seem to be reading my musing on this issue yesterday on IHUB.
I agree with what you are saying that AMD would be a good takeover candidate at this price. But any acquirer ends up paying more than 2x stock price. So The stock has to fall to the vicinity of $4 before AMD is acquired. I may take a stake in AMD if it falls to $5 range, because it would be a takeover candidate by nVdia as I digressed yesterday.

Another takeover candidate would be Samsung. Samsung could acquire all of the AMD stock, replace AMDs ineffective board and fire the present management, but the name AMD could continue.Samsung has the advantage of very deep pockets, and an intense desire to expand, and has plenty of wafer fabs which are shared with other lines, and also acts as a foundry. They also have the patience to look past the disastrous 2008/09 in the making. Most other private equity investors will be extremely intimidated by the 2008 bleeding, and may not have the resolve to take on Intel at its present level of execution.
