OT Venezuelan military airplane stoned in Bolivian Amazon

A Venezuelan Air Force airplane was stoned Friday by demonstrators in the airport of a remote Bolivian town, near the border with Brazil, until it was forced to take off, local media reported.

The Hercules airplane was attacked in Riberalta town, in Beni department, over 700 kilometers north La Paz, authorities in the region told radio station Erbol while the aircraft was stoned.

The demonstrators said they "would never again let a Venezuelan airplane" to land, as they believe they carry "military officers or weapons."

A reporter with San Miguel radio station of Riberalta told Efe that the airplane landed for refueling, and was immediately attacked with stones and firecrackers by some 200 people, in the face of Bolivian police and military officers who did not react.
